When should you plant flower bulbs?

Bloombol

Spring flower bulbs 'spring bloomers' are planted in the autumn from September to December. You should not plant the flower bulbs when the soil is frozen or when the soil is too wet. Then they can freeze or rot. Look here for more plant information about planting the Bloombulb package or about planting specific varieties.

Summer flower bulbs 'summer bloomers' such as dahlias, gladioli and lilies are planted in the spring. When the risk of frost has gone (often at the end of April) the bulbs can be planted in the ground. The sooner the bulbs are planted, the sooner they bloom. You can also advance summer flowering bulbs in a warmer greenhouse first. The bulbs can be planted in a container or pot in March, after which you transplant them into the open ground in April-May.
